Emerald chiffon, pressed into fine sunray pleats that pour from a clean strapless line all the way to the floor. It moves the way water moves: every step sends light shivering down the pleats, and a soft ruffle spills the length of one side like a tide drawn out long.

Strapless doesn't have to mean fussing all night. The bandeau is fitted and pleated to sit close and stay put; add a pair of adhesive cups and you can dance, reach and raise a glass without a second thought. The tiered flounce at the bust isn't decoration for its own sake — cut long and full, it floats clean over the middle, defining above and skimming below, so the eye reads waist, not worry.

The pleats do quiet work, too. Layered dense through the body, they photograph opaque under any light, keeping the sheerness where it belongs — in the airy ruffle that catches the breeze. What's left is the part that lasts: you, an emerald column, and a hem that trails a little when you turn.
